Strength

8 Strength

I began work on this Strength image, while I was being drawn into a battle waged by a brute power ‘bully’ force, against an unsuspecting 'me'. I soon realized that nothing was to be gained by assuming a victim-like stance. As the imagery came together, I realized that I could rely on my inner fortitude; that it was not to be trifled with. The feminine component is a composite of me wearing silk and pearls and flowers and confidence. The lion is from a Victorian woodcut and steps on a sunflower but does not crush it. Here the lion is the catalyst that turns fear into creative energy and self-confidence.
