5 Hierophant

The image of the schoolhouse is a photo I took in Chilton Wisconsin, where all my Irish ancestors had immigrated. The celtic cross can still be seen on some of the gable ends of barns in the area. The strict schoolmistress extolls the virtues of the angels and the saints, and takes spiritual lives of her pupils very seriously. There are signs however that her charges will retain their senses of humor, vision and compassion. Young Sean has been told repeatedly not to bring his frog to class and here it is peaking out of his sleeve! Mary Margaret holds a shamrock, which neatly illustrates the Trinity, but the roots of the mystical number three are ancient and universal. And someone has brought Miss Addy a green apple, and left it on the windowsill, in an attempt to sweeten her day.
